Criss-cross, applesauce
Warmed by the sun
I let my eyes close
And lean into the hum

Arm stretched out
I can feel the waves
Push me back
And lift me from the haze

I’m soaring! I’m soaring!
It feels so real
Like a kite in the wind
As the string unreels

My head’s a little swimmy
I marvel at the feeling
My spirit expanding out
No walls, no ceiling

But the tiniest bump
Brings me back to my seat
This world solid
Firmly planted at my feet

Did you feel that? Did you feel that?
I ask, looking ’round
But it’s just me
Alone, unfound.
